Everyday Dose vs. Cuppa: Which Mushroom Coffee Wakes You Up Without Kicking Your Anxiety Into Overdrive?

Last Modified:

Drinking coffee has always felt like a balancing act between the energy it gives me and the anxiety I’m left with. I got tired of feeling weird and wired before noon, but I also wasn’t ready for a full breakup with caffeine, so I started looking at mushroom coffee as a middle ground.

Everyday Dose and Cuppa are two Mushroom Coffee brands that are rapidly gaining popularity. Both promise a calmer kind of focus with less crash, but I wanted to find out which would be a better fit for me.

It turns out, there’s an obvious winner!

Which Mushroom Coffee Has the Better Formula?

When I’m drinking a regular cup of coffee, I consistently end up over-caffeinated and overwhelmed. It keeps me awake, but at what cost? I want coffee that helps me stay alert but doesn’t immediately tip me over the line if I go back for a second cup.

What’s in Everyday Dose Coffee+

  • 45mg caffeine
  • 25 calories per serving
  • 1g carbs, 5g protein, 20mg sodium
  • Coffee, lion’s mane, chaga, collagen, L-theanine

Everyday Dose keeps the formula simple: Real coffee, two mushrooms, collagen, and L-theanine. Lion’s mane handles brain and immune support, while Chaga supports the gut and digestion.

L-theanine keeps you calm, focused, and steady, even through the caffeine boost, and collagen promotes healthy skin, hair, and nails.

The 5g of protein comes from grass-fed, grass-finished bovine collagen, so each scoop pulls double duty as both coffee and a collagen drink. If you want more caffeine, the Coffee+ Medium Roast has about 90mg, roughly the same as a regular cup, but I prefer the lower dose.

What’s in Cuppa?

  • 70mg caffeine
  • 20 calories per serving
  • 2g carbs, <1g protein, 80mg sodium,1g fiber
  • Contains: Coffee, lion’s mane, cordyceps, KSM-66 ashwagandha, L-theanine

Cuppa starts in a similar place with Arabica coffee and lion’s mane, then stacks on cordyceps, KSM-66 ashwagandha, MCT, and fiber, but what it’s lacking are protein and collagen, two essential nutrients for health and wellbeing that are hard to get enough of in your diet.

Cuppa also has a stronger 70mg caffeine hit, which is almost as much as the regular coffee I was trying to avoid.

Between Everyday Dose and Cuppa, I strongly prefer Everyday Dose based on the caffeine content and the added health benefits it provides, like that extra bit of collagen protein.

Winner: Everyday Dose

Who Wins on Taste?

When I go in for a cup of joe, I want it to taste like coffee.

First impression: Everyday Dose tastes like coffee, because it IS coffee. Their blend contains 100% real arabica coffee. It’s balanced and full-bodied with a little something extra at the back. It doesn’t taste like mushrooms, and it goes down smooth, iced or hot.

Cuppa is closer to what I expected from a mushroom coffee. It drinks like a gentle medium roast with a noticeable mushroom note. I enjoyed it, but longtime coffee drinkers might need a little time to warm up to that flavor.

Both are incredibly easy to brew, no coffee maker required. Just mix the powder with hot or cold water. The Everyday Dose Starter Kit also includes a frother, which gives every cup a light, creamy texture.

My only gripe with Everyday Dose is the lack of variety. Sometimes I want something different in the morning, and Cuppa gives you more room to experiment. I only tried the Medium Roast, but they do offer fun seasonal flavors like Pumpkin Spice.

Winner: Tie (Cuppa wins on variety, but Everyday Dose wins on taste)

Which Mushroom Coffee Worked Better?

I started researching mushroom coffee because regular coffee left me anxious in the morning and sluggish by the afternoon.

After trying Everyday Dose and Cuppa, one felt like an upgrade, while the other felt more like a lateral move.

Everyday Dose delivered steady, clear energy without the buzz, and the added collagen protein made a noticeable difference. I could move through the day with a calm stomach, steady hands, and better focus.

Cuppa was fine, but the higher caffeine and lack of protein pushed me back toward that wired feeling I get from normal coffee.

If I had to pick one to keep drinking, it would be Everyday Dose.

Price-wise, they’re similar. Everyday Dose offers a starter kit with 30 servings, a frother, and extras for about $25. Cuppa’s Medium Roast also has 30 servings and is around $29.

Both offer flexible subscriptions you can pause or adjust anytime.

Winner: Everyday Dose

The Better Mushroom Coffee is Clear

In the end, both blends were drinkable, but only one actually solved the problem I started with.

Everyday Dose let me keep my morning coffee ritual without feeling overstimulated or wiped out later, and the lower caffeine and collagen protein made a real difference in how I felt.

Cuppa has some fun flavors, but as a daily swap, Everyday Dose is the one that actually earns a spot in my routine.
